Acupuncture

How can acupuncture help my pet?

Acupuncture is helpful as part of the management program for the following medical issues:

Arthritis and muscular pain- to assist in improved mobility and analgesia.

Skin problems- to help relieve itching for both acute and chronic conditions.

Medical conditions- relief of chronic pain and support during treatment for cancer.

Behaviour- as a component of managing anxiety based issues.

Acupuncture is offered to both cats and dogs of all ages and breeds. The initial acupuncture session typically runs for 45-60 minutes and you are welcome to remain with your pet during this appointment. Your pet will not require any level of sedation or anaesthetic and will also enjoy some shiatsu style massage to finish off their acupuncture treatment. It is encouraged that your pet has a series of acupuncture sessions as part of their treatment.

Acupuncture at the St Kilda Veterinary Clinic is performed by Dr Katrina Gregory who is a veterinarian and Member (by examination) of the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society.
